THE REFEREE

Foul Detection

GOOD

David Coote blew for a lot of little niggles in the first 10 minutes, but then as the game went on it became easier for him to referee and he could afford to let a lot go as there was not much in the game.  A very easy decision in the 59th minute for a penalty after a foul by Derby’s number 3 on Leicester number 9.

Positioning

EXCELLENT

Mr Coote’s positioning was very good tonight. He didn't miss anything and nobody could argue with any of his decisions because he was there and on the spot. His fitness was outstanding as well especially on several occasions where he had to make 60 yards sprints, but was still in the correct position.

Man Management

GOOD

Man management I think is always vital in a local derby, and whenever he could, Mr Coote was speaking to players and always explaining decisions. This led to his match control being spot on.

Card Issuing

GOOD

The only card of the game came in the 78th minute when Derby’s number 4 put halt to a Leicester counter attack by tripping Leicester’s number 8 up just 10 yards short of the half way line. Very easy caution for David Coote and the only challenge in the game which needed a yellow card. The only surprising thing was the fact that Leicester’s number 35 didn't get booked for 4/5 silly little fouls.

Fitness

EXCELLENT

Already touched on David Coote’s fitness within his positioning. His fitness was amazing and always being up with play, leading to the correct decisions being made.

THE ASSISTANT REFEREES

Assistant 1 - VERY GOOD [8.0]
Assistant 2 - VERY GOOD [8.0]

Both assistants were very good during the game. That both had a very quiet evening with no offsides given, and both supported David Coote very well in decision making for free-kicks and thrown-ins

OVERALL

VERY GOOD

SCORE

8.8/10
