THE REFEREE
Foul Detection
GOOD
Carlos Vera's foul detection was generally very good. However, the goal that Nigeria scored wasn't perhaps a foul on the goalkeeper. I also think that sometimes he used his whistle too much after fouls and some verbal communication may have been better.
Positioning
EXCELLENT
Excellent positioning throughout the game, which helped him to keep control of the whole game.
Man Management
GOOD
As already mentioned I think that Vera could have been better suited with some verbal communication instead of the constant use of the whistle.
Card Issuing
GOOD
The one yellow card he did issue was probably acceptable and apart from that there were no real challenges that were needed to be dealt with a card.
Fitness
EXCELLENT
Superb fitness helped maintain good match control throughout the whole game.
THE ASSISTANT REFEREES
Assistant 1 - VERY GOOD [8.0]
Assistant 2 - VERY GOOD [8.0]
Good support to the referee and all correct decisions.
OVERALL
VERY GOOD
SCORE
