THE REFEREE

Foul Detection

 GOOD

Mr Friend's foul detection was generally very good. There was 27 free kicks during the game, but due to Kevin's eye for an advantage this was kept for a minimum. He was always looking for the 2 teams to be allowed to play advantage.

Positioning

EXCELLENT

Mr Friend's positioning was excellent. He was always in the right spot to make sure he could see what was going off. This was shown in the first half especially when there was a bit of a goal mouth scramble in the West Brom box, but Kevin was right there to make sure he was able to see if there was a foul.

Man Management

 GOOD

Kevin Friend was always looking to explain his decisions to players, however, I felt that Kevin could of looked at speaking to some West Brom players when they were trying to slow the play down. He did however speak to West Brom's #5 in the 50th for dissent. Mr Friend had already booked the #5 and tried to keep him on the pitch rather than having to send him off.

Card Issuing

EXCELLENT

Although there was 6 yellow cards in the game (some people would say this is way to much for an easy game) but all of the yellow cards were mandatory and players didn't seem to have a problem with the yellow cards he did give.

Fitness

EXCELLENT

Mr Friend's fitness was excellent which obviously lead to his positioning being excellent as well.

THE ASSISTANT REFEREES

Assistant 1 -  VERY GOOD [8/10]
Assistant 2 -  VERY GOOD [8/10]

Both assistants supported Kevin very well throughout the afternoon, providing Kevin with support in and around there 'area' when giving free kicks.

OVERALL

VERY GOOD

Kevin had a very good afternoon. He has had a very indifferent season so far and has struggled to find some consistent form, however, I believe if Kevin can perform for the 2nd half of the season like he has today then he will be ok.

SCORE

8.5/10
